LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) — A 27-year-old Missouri woman has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Kansas teenager who was struck while riding her bicycle.

Leavenworth County Prosecutor Todd Thompson said Amber Nicole Alexander of Parkville, was charged Monday with second-degree murder or the alternative of DUI involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors allege Alexander hit 16-year-old Miranda Lynch in Leavenworth on Saturday and then fled. Lynch was transported to a hospital but died later of her injuries.

LEAVENWORTH —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal weekend hit and run have made an arrest.

A 27-year-old female suspect is in custody and police located the suspect vehicle in connection with a hit and run accident on Saturday that killed a Kansas teen who was hit while riding a bicycle, according to Leavenworth Chief Pat Kitchens.

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) — Police say a Kansas teenager hit by a vehicle while riding her bicycle has died.

The 16-year-old Leavenworth girl on Saturday was taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

She later died. Police have not yet identified the teenager. Investigators believe the girl was riding her bike when she was hit from behind. Police say the driver fled in a silver SUV or station wagon, possibly a Subaru Outback. Police are searching for the driver. The vehicle likely has significant front-end damage.
