WYANDOTTE COUNTY—Graduation is postponed at a Kansas City, Kansas high school.
According to a statement from Bishop Ward High School, 708 N 18th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, "On May 7, an incident of vandalism involving a significant number of the senior class occurred on campus."
"After careful consideration and in consultation with law enforcement, the school's Board of Trustees and the Catholic Schools Office of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas have recommended postponing the commencement ceremony until the investigation is finished. School leadership accepted that recommendation."
"We realize the decision is deeply disappointing , especially for students and families who have looked forward to celebrating this important milestone. However, given the scope and seriousness of the incident, we believe it is necessary to allow the investigation to proceed."
"Our responsibility is to uphold the values and standards of our school community while ensuring accountability and due process for all involved."
