DOUGLAS COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a search in Lawrence.
During the noon hour on Monday, police were attempting to find a man who witnesses say threatened a couple with a firearm, then took off, according to a social media report from the Lawrence Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to 23rd and Louisiana just before noon and got a description of the suspect and additional evidence.
About an hour after the initial call, the suspect was spotted near 23rd and Naismith Drive. When officers attempted to approach him, he ran into a nearby grocery store.
Officers set up a perimeter, while others entered the business and located the suspect. Officers safely arrested him, took him to the hospital to get checked out because he was complaining of stomach issues, and then to the Douglas County Correctional Facility.
There were no injuries reported during the entire incident.
Police did not release the name of the suspect or possible charges.
