
SEDGWICK COUNTY —On Thursday morning, the Sedgwick County Zoo reported a wild bird showing potential signs of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) had been found on zoo grounds, according to the a social media report from the zoo.
The zoo sent samples out for conclusive testing.
Out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of their birds, the zoo is increasing their HPAI biosecurity protocols while awaiting the final results.
What this means for your visit: The Australia/South America walk-through habitat is temporarily closed
Flamingos, storks, cranes, and penguins will not be visible as often.
