Kan. sheriff's K9 helps in arrest of suspect with drugs, gun

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on drug charges after a traffic stop and with the help of a sheriff's K9.

Just after 5p.m. Dec. 21, an officer with the Great Bend Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Patton on a 1992 Honda Civic for a traffic violation, according to a media release.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Traxler Denning, age 25, was known to the officer to have a revoked driver's license. The officer requested assistance from the Barton County Sheriff's K-9 Deputy. BTSO K-9 "Maxx" indicated to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

Denning was placed under arrest and transported to the Barton County Detention Center on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal use of a weapon, driving while revoked & obstructed windshield.
