WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) – chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs – today led the first hearing for the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs in the 119th Congress to consider the nomination of Congressman Doug Collins to be the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA).
“My work on this committee is almost always driven by what I hear from veterans particularly at home in Kansas but also across the country,” said Sen. Moran. “We will hear from a lot of veterans organizations as well, and this is about how do we make the VA work better – what is it doing well; what is it not doing well; how do we solve the problems veterans face in this country. As Chairman, I will work to solve problems and deliver results to help veterans access the health care and benefits they have earned and achieve success after their service, and I expect the next Secretary of Veterans Affairs to share a similar focus.”
