COWLEY COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating an alleged arson fire that destroyed a rural Kansas house.
On Saturday, Burden Fire units responded to a fire involving an abandoned house west of Burden, according to a social media report from County County Fire District 3.
The structure was fully involved before the fire was discovered, and the house is a total loss. The origin of the fire is suspicious in nature and is most likely arson, according to Cowley County Fire officials. There were no injuries reported.
An arson investigator from Winfield Fire/EMS Department and deputies from the Cowley County Sheriff’s Department have investigated the scene.
Authorities asked the community to be on the lookout for suspicious vehicles in the Burden area. It is possible that the suspects are still in the area or may return.
