
SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after police chase.
Just after 2a.m. July 4, a sheriff's deputy located a stolen silver 2024 Toyota Tacoma in the 1600 block of SE 29th Street, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop and initiated a pursuit. The vehicle pursuit ended near SE Michigan Avenue and SE Morrison Street when the occupants ran from the pickup.
Multiple officers searched the area, a K-9 Unit with the Topeka Police Department began tracking and a drone was quickly deployed. The driver was located nearby.
David R. Amos Jr., 27, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges Possession of stolen property, Flee or attempt to elude, Interference with law enforcement, Distribution of an opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant, Reckless driving, Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, Use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body and Vehicles; display plate not assigned
