DOUGLAS COUNTY—Police investigators are asking for help solving a incident involving gunfire outside an apartment complex in Lawrence.
The incident happened at the Connections near 31st and Ousdahl about 12:30, as Friday night turned to Saturday morning, according to a media release from Lawrence Police.
That night, officers collected more than a dozen shell casings in the parking lot outside a unit where a party was going on. Police did not find anyone hit by gunfire, but cars were damaged. Officers talked to several people who heard or saw the events, but when the gunfire rang out, many potential witnesses ran for their own safety.
Police want anyone who saw the shooter or has information about what happened, to please call. The suspect had been described at a black male between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-8, with a thin build wearing dark clothing and carrying a red backpack. P
