KANSAS CITY (AP) — A Kansas City nightclub where two people died and 15 people were injured in a shooting in January has lost its liquor license after city officials said it was the scene of continuing violence.
The Kansas City Liquor Control Board voted Wednesday to revoke the liquor license of 9ine Ultra Lounge, The Kansas City Star reported.
Raeven Parks, 25, died on Jan. 19 when a man fired into a line of people waiting to get into the club as the city celebrated the Kansas City Chiefs getting into the Super Bowl. A security guard shot and killed the gunman, Jahron Swift.
The club closed for several months but the violence continued when it reopened. On Aug. 30, four people were shot in an argument that started inside the club and involved several shooters.
Jim Ready, manager of the city’s regulated industries, said the club never provided proper security, which led to the violence, thefts and assaults.
The club's owner did not submit forms needed for the club to retain its license and did not attend Wednesday's meeting.
