Kan. couple killed after wrong-way I-135 crash

HARVEY COUNTY—Two people died in an accident just before 2p.m. Saturday in Harvey County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Lincoln MKZ driven by Denice K. Bina, 65, Marion was southbound on Interstate 135 two miles south of Newton.

The car left the roadway, traveled into the median and came back onto the roadway. The driver overcorrected and the car traveled across the median and into the northbound lanes.  A 2019 Freightliner semi driven by Evan Matthew Newman, 25, Udall struck the Lincoln.

Bina and a passenger Raymond C. Bina, 71, Marion, were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to the  Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center.

Newman was not injured. All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
