SALINE COUNTY—A Kansas felon is back in jail after allegedly threatening a police officer with a knife.

Just after 2:30p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of East Ash Street in Salina for the report of a verbal domestic dispute in progress, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.

Officers made contact with Wesley Spragg, 39, of Salina, who requested to be taken to jail.

Spragg then ran from the officers and refused to stop when ordered to do so, according to Forrester. Spragg eventually stopped, turned around, and yelled at the officers, according to Forrester.

Spragg then allegedly picked up an approximate eight-inch fixed-blade knife from the ground, pointed it at one of the officers, and quickly moved toward the officer. The officer backed up to create distance and Spragg put the knife into a sheath he had hanging from around his neck.

Police arrested him on requested charges of Aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer and Criminal threat.
