Hunters and dog rescued from mud flats at Lake McConaughy

KEITH COUNTY, Neb— First responders rescued two hunters and a dog on Monday who were trapped in mud flats at Lake McConaughy’s Cedar View Area on Monday, according to a social media report from  the Lake McConaughy Dive Rescue Team

Nebraska Game and Parks responded to assist with an airboat.  Rescue crews in cold water survival gear removed on hunter from the mud and water and then another hunter and his dog were removed and brought to shore.

Garden County EMS transported both hunters for treatment of hypothermia.  Authorities released no additional details.

Agencies assisting included the Keith County Fire Department, the Keith County Sheriff's Office, Lewellen Fire Department, the Nebraska State Patrol, and Keith County EMS with a drone.
