JOHNSON COUNTY —A man from Arkansas who admitted his role in a violent knife attack in Kansas is going to prison.

This week Johnson County Judge Thomas M. Sutherland sentenced 35-year-old Amanjit Singh to nearly 24-years in prison for attempted first degree murder, according to Johnson County District Attorney's office.

In September Singh pleaded no contest to attempted First Degree Murder. In June of 2023, police responded to Stonebridge Liquors at W. 67th Street and Nieman Road in the city of Shawnee.  The victim told investigators a man walked into the liquor store as she worked and attacked her with a knife.

Court documents say Singh stabbed the victim multiple times.
