Police catch two Kansas women during burglary

TOPEKA, Kan. –Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and have two suspect in custody.

Just after 10:30p.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to 915 NW Western in Topeka for a report of a burglary in progress, according to Lt. Kelvin Johnson.

Officers arrived and set up a perimeter around the building and were able to take Cynthia Wood, 54, and Stacy Stinnett, 44, both of Topeka, into custody.

Both women were booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections under suspicion of burglary, criminal damage, and theft.

The stolen items were recovered at the scene and returned to the property owner, according to Johnson.
