Sheriff updates investigation on death of 45-year-old Kan. woman

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement continue to the investigate the death of a woman in her home in Clearwater.

Just before 10:30a.m. Thursday, officers from the Clearwater Police Department and emergency personnel from Sedgwick County EMS responded to a report of a possible death at a home in the 300 block of S. Tracy in Clearwater, according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Branden Stitt.

First responders located 45-year-old Melina Hinkle, a Clearwater resident, deceased inside the home.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, at the request of the Clearwater Police Department, has taken over the investigation. The Sedgwick County Coroner’s Office notedthere were no signs of trauma on the body, and the cause of death is currently pending toxicology results.

Detectives remained on-site finalizing scene processing throughout Friday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office extends appreciation to community members who have reached out with information related to the investigation. There is no indication of a public safety concern and the Sheriff’s Office requests the community’s continued cooperation as the investigation proceeds.
