MANHATTAN β€”Law enforcement authorities continue their investigation that injured one man Monday evening in Manhattan.

Just after 5p.m. police were called to report of a shooting in the parking lot of Sunset Zoo in the 2300 block of Oak Street in Manhattan, according to a media release..

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 23-year-old Manhattan man with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to Via Christi and later to Stormont Vail in Topeka for further treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation has led us to believe this was an isolated incident between two separate, but associated parties. At this point in time, we are working to identify all individuals involved in the shooting.

Witnesses in the area have told us at least one male suspect ran away from the scene following the shooting heading eastbound. Anyone in the Sunset Zoo area that may have camera footage or witnessed anything suspicious around this time last night can reach out to us at (785) 537-2112 or Crime Stoppers at (785) 539-7777.
