Police ID Kansas man who died in bar shooting

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting and have identified the victim as 29-year-old Raymond Davis of Topeka.

Just before 2:30a.m. Friday, police were dispatched to 4600 Block SW Topeka Blvd, after receiving a call for service regarding a disturbance and gunshots reported in the area, according to Police Captain Jerry Monasmith.

Responding officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personnel pronounced Davis deceased at the scene. American Medical Response transported the other person to a medical care facility with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing as Officers and Detectives continue looking into the circumstances regarding the event and following up on all investigative leads available. 

Upon completion of the criminal investigative case file, it will be sent to the DA’s office for criminal charging assessment per standard practice and protocol. There is the possibility of selfdefense consideration in this incident, according to Monasmith.
