Woman sentenced for fatal DWI crash in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY —  A judge on Thursday sentenced a Kansas City woman to six years in  prison after she was convicted of DWI in a December 2019 vehicular crash in Kansas City, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Tonya Rolf, 54, entered the plea agreement in November.

According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the area of 18th and Indiana on Dec. 28, 2019 on a vehicular crash. A passenger in a Ford pickup, Rob Heslop, was later declared deceased from injuries sustained in the crash.

A witness told police that a vehicle driven by Rolf crossed into the driving lane of the victim's vehicle and hit it head-on. Medical records of the defendant showed high levels of alcohol and Benzoylecgonine.
