Sheriff IDs Kansas pilot who died in helicopter crash

SEDGWICK COUNTY  —Authorities investigating a fatal helicopter crash that occurred just after 8a.m. Friday have identified the man who died as 70-year-old Vincent Faber of Andale, according to Sedgwick County Sheriff Lt. Nathan Gibbs.

The National Transportation Safety Board continues investigating the  crash of the RotorWay Scorpion 133 in the in the 5700 block of North 255th Street West.

An NTSB investigator arrived on scene Saturday, according to a statement from the agency. On scene, the investigator is documenting the scene and examining the wreckage.

NTSB investigations involve three primary areas: the pilot, the aircraft and the operating environment.

Witnesses to the accident or those who have surveillance video or other information that could be relevant to the investigation are asked to contact the NTSB at [email protected]

The NTSB will issue  a preliminary report on the crash within 30 days.

The preliminary report will contain factual information gathered during the initial phase of the investigation. A probable cause of the crash along with any contributing factors will be detailed in the final report, which is expected in 12-24 months.
