FINNEY COUNTY—Law enforcement in southwest Kansas have a homicide suspect in custody after an incident at a motel.
Just after 5:30 p.m., August 13, police responded to a business assist call at the Best Western – Emerald Inn & Suites, 2412 E. Kansas Avenue in Garden City, according to a media release from police.
Motel staff reported that a man was refusing to leave and requested he be criminally trespassed. After arriving, officers made contact with 61-year-old James Eaton. During the investigation, police discovered Eaton had an outstanding felony warrant out of Maryland for failing to appear in court on multiple charges, including homicide.
Eaton was taken into custody and remains in the Finney County Jail for the out-of-state warrant. Police released no additional details on the charges against Eaton.
