Kansas firefighter accused of child sex crimes

CHEROKEE COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a firefighter of the Coffeyville Fire Department for child sex crimes.

Just after 8:30a.m. Wednesday,  KBI agents arrested 25-year-old Spencer Barnard, of Baxter Springs, after a traffic stop in Cherokee County. Barnard was arrested on requested charges of sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated indecent solicitation of a child, according to a media release from the KBI.

KBI agents and sheriff’s deputies also conducted a search warrant at a residence at 1004 Cherokee Ave., in Baxter Springs, related to the case.

Following the arrest, Barnard was booked into the Cherokee County Jail.
