
KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating two suspects on multiple allegations after a chase near Kansas City.
Just after 8:30 a.m. September 5, sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for expired tags traveling northbound on Interstate 49 from Archie, Missouri, according to the Cass County Sheriff's office.
Deputies pursued the car into rural Peculiar, where the vehicle traveled off road and the driver got out of the vehicle. The driver then ran from the vehicle for a short time before deputies caught up with him. He’s been identified as 34-year-old Shannon Barwick of Exeter, Missouri.

The vehicle and trailer attached to it were confirmed to be stolen. Barwick has been charged with Aggravated Fleeing a Stop/Detention and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle - 1st Degree He’s being held at the Cass County Jail with no bond allowed.

The passenger has been identified as 39-year-old John Gray of Goodman, Missouri. Gray had four active felony warrants from two separate counties at the time of his arrest. Gray had two from McDonald County, Missouri (Stealing/$750 or more and Domestic Assault - 3rd Degree) and two from Newton County, Missouri (Burglary - 1st Degree/Domestic Assault 3rd- Degree and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle - 1st Degree/Motor Vehicle Stealing/Watercraft/Aircraft). He’s currently being held at the Cass County Jail.
