Kansas man dead after vehicle lands in creek

JOHNSON COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just after 3p.m. Thursday in Johnson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Mitsubishi driven by   Josue  Lorenzo-Ratliff, 24, Overland Park, was  northbound on Interstate 435 just south of Midland Driver when its left rear tire blew out.

The driver was unable to correct the vehicle.  It struck the right guardrail, traveled over a bridge, rolled twice and landed in a creek.

Gomez Humberto-Perez, 43, Kansas City, Kansas, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Johnson County Medical Examiner's office.  EMS transported Lorenzo-Ratliff to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Both were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
