RENO COUNTY—A family pet died in a house fire in rural Reno County.
Just after noon on Friday, units from Reno County Fire Districts 9, 8, and Reno/Harvey Jt. 2, responded to a house fire in the 14,000 block of Bauman Road, according to Travis Vogt, Reno County Fire Administrator.
A mutual aide request was made for an engine crew from Mt Hope Fire and Sedgwick County Fire District #1 for man power.
The first arriving units found smoke showing from the roof vents. An interior attack was made and the fire was contained to a single bathroom.
The home sustained smoke and heat damage throughout. Haven EMS provided rehab for the crews. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries, however one dog was found deceased.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
