HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Former Kansas U.S. Senator and Governor Sam Brownback is joining a Christian organization dedicated to helping those persecuted for holding that faith.

In a news release, Open Doors USA announced that Brownback will serve as Senior Fellow.

Brownback most recently served as U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, from February 2018 to January 2021. He is also co-chair for the International Religious Freedom Summit. As Senior Fellow, Brownback will continue to research the most pressing issues in religious persecution and advocate on behalf of persecuted religious minorities worldwide.

“Open Doors USA is a leading global advocate for Christians and other religious communities facing persecution around the world. From Nigeria to Afghanistan to India to China, these issues remain as pressing as ever, and I look forward as Senior Fellow to expanding the work of Open Doors and to bringing relief to these persecuted communities wherever and whenever possible,” said Ambassador Brownback.
