Kan. man moved from hospital to jail after police chase, crash

DICKINSON COUNTY —A Kansas man was injured in an accident during a police chase just after 7:30p.m. Sunday in Dickinson County is now in jail.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a was Herington Police were in pursuit of a 1999 Chevy S-10 pickup driven by Matthew R. Mell, 34, Herington southbound from Herington to U.S. 56 Business Highway.

The driver lost control as he attempted to make a right turn onto 400 Avenue and the pickup rolled.

EMS transported Mall to the hospital in Herington. After treatment he was booked into the Dickinson County jail on requested charges that include assault on a law enforcement officer, battery of a law enforcement officer, interference with a law enforcement officer, DUI and flee or attempt to elude law enforcement, according to online jail records.

The KHP did not report seat belt usage.
