
BOURBON COUNTY—One person died in a fire in Bourbon County.
Just before 5p.m. Tuesday, the Kansas State Fire Marshal (KSFM) Investigation Division was requested to assist with a fatality fire in the 2200 block of Osage Road, Fort Scott, according to a media release.
Local authorities requested Kansas State Fire Marshal Special Agents after they responded to house fire with a fatality. Two Special Agents/Certified Fire Investigators were sent to assist with this fire.
The Scott Township Fire Department, with mutual aid from the Fort Scott Fire Department and the Bourbon County Fire District #3, responded to working fire. A woman with a mobility issues was trapped. Fire crews found her deceased in her bed in the front living room.
The fire incident classification will be made after the preliminary autopsy report becomes available. There is nothing suspicious about the fire, according to the Fire Marshal's office.
