CALDWELL COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect in connection with a series of arsons fires near Polo, Missouri including one fire that was fatal.

On Friday evening, deputies arrested 27-year-old Harold Edwards, Jr. of Kansas City on requested charges of three counts of arson, three counts of burglary, and three counts property damage in connection with the three house fires set May 10, in rural Polo, according to Caldwell County Sheriff Mitchell Allen.

Edwards is being held without bond in the Caldwell County jail.

All three fires occurred within a two-hour period on the same road. Firefighters found the body of 96-year-old Lorene Fickess in the charred remains of one of the fires. The other two homes were vacant.

Caldwell County officials say additional charges could be added.
