
LYON COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating an alleged arson fire have made an arrest.
Just before 5:30a.m. October 18, the Emporia Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle fire in the area of West South Avenue and Neosho Street in Emporia, according to a media release.
Fire crews located the vehicle at 10 South Neosho Street, where the fire was quickly extinguished. Following the initial response, Emporia Fire Department Fire Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set.
Police arrested 53-year-old Miguel Solorio Renterio, 53, of Emporia on requested charges of arson in connection with the incident. He has previous convictions for attempted battery on a law enforcement officer and criminal possession of a weapon, according to online records.
The case has been referred to the Lyon County Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
