MCPHERSON—Law enforcement continue investigating and six puppies abandoned last week are back with their mother.
Just after 4:30p.m. May 21, McPherson Animal Control and the McPherson Police Department responded to Walmart, 205 Centennial Drive because 6 one week old puppies were left in a pink bag, behind the tire of a vehicle, on row 4., according to a stateement fom McPherson Police.

We are working with Walmart for video and other video in the area. We purchased bottles and formula to feed the puppies. We want to thank the person who found the puppies and reported it to dispatch. We also want to thank the Officers, Animal Shelter staff, Office staff, and jail staff who are taking turns feeding these animals every 3 hours around the clock.
After a thorough investigation, the McPherson Police Department was able to track down the mom of the six puppies. Police were able to get the owner to bring the mother dog to the McPherson Animal Shelter to feed and raise her puppies. Immediately the puppies latched on and momma laid down to snuggle them.
We will take care of mom and puppies until they are able to be adopted. She will receive all her shots and will be spayed. The disposition of momma will be decided by the courts. "We want the best for them and we know you do as well. We will forward a case to the prosecutor for pending charges and restitution. The investigation continues and everything can’t be shared for the integrity of the case."
"We will also begin working on a resource list for owners and a few law change recommendations with our legislators for future cases."
