87-year-old jailed after standoff at Kansas home

KIOWA COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a standoff.

Just after 4:30p.m. Monday, the Greensburg Police Department and Kiowa County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Main Street  in Greensburg, according to a media release.

When officers arrived, they discovered an 87-year-old man had fired shots inside his residence and barricaded himself inside the residence.

Area residents were evacuated and calls for assistance were made to the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Pratt County Sheriff's Office. 

Just after 7p.m.. negotiations were successful and he was taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported to civilians or law enforcement. The case is being investigated by the Greensburg Police Department.  The name of the suspect has not been released.
