MCPHERSON COUNTY —The McPherson County Board of Public Utility crews are working to restore power outages following a storm that saw 70-80 mile per hour winds to south central Kansas.
All available utility crews were dispatched. At this time officials estimate approximately 600 outages as a result of the storm. There were no injuries reported, according to the McPherson County Sheriff's office.
Residents who live within city limits on the south side of McPherson were expected to have their power restored overnight. Rural customers that live southwest of the city limits can expect an extended outage. Some may see an outage of 12-24 hours.
The sheriff's office asked the public to avoid the area around 22nd Avenue between Eisenhower Road and Dakota Road as multiple power lines were down, there is damage to residential structures and emergency crews working in the area.
The Board of Public Utilities reported there are approximately 2 miles of power lines down on the circuit that feeds this section of the system.
