A number of northwest Kansas county health departments and law enforcement organizations have made the public declaration that the mandatory facemask rule set to go into effect Friday will not be enforced.
An announcement on guidance from Ellis County officials is expected Thursday afternoon. Russell County officials are expected to meet Monday on the topic, according to the Russell County Health Department.
