
SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas man accused in a deadly shooting last week made his first court appearance in the case Friday.
Tristan D. Miles, 40, was charged with first degree murder, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
Just after 7:30p.m. Monday, police responded to report of a shooting in the parking lot of the American Legion in the 1300 Block of North Hydraulic in Wichita. According to an online statement from police, the suspect called 911 and reported he had just shot someone.
First responders found the shooting victim, 56-year-old Darnell Guiden of Wichita, inside a 1998 Chevrolet pickup. EMS transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased just before 8p.m.
The suspect, identified from county booking records as 40-year-old Tristan D. Miles, was taken into custody without incident. He had previously been banned from the business from a previous incident, according to police.
Miles is being held a $1-million dollars bond, according to the district attorney's office.
