SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. - The wife of a Sedgwick County Commission has been granted diversion in an electioneering case from last year's general election.
Meghan Blubaugh, wife of Sedgwick County Commissioner Jeff Blubaugh was granted diversion in her first appearance in Sedgwick County District Court. Judge Shawn Elliot granted the diversion order on Thursday.
Blubaugh was charged with one count of electioneering. She is alleged to have been wearing a shirt with her husband's campaign logo on it while voting last fall. Election workers at the poling location told her she needed to turn the shirt inside out but she refused.
Under Kansas law election campaign information is not to be displayed or distributed within any polling site on election day or at any advanced voting site.
