
CLAY COUNTY, Mo. —Earlier this month marked the sixth time this year vandalism causing significant damage took place at the bathrooms at Smithville Lake - Clay County Parks, according to a social media report from the Clay County, Missouri Sheriff.
This time, Parks employees discovered extensive damage in the Sail Boat Cove bathrooms, including a destroyed toilet, smashed light fixtures and a stall wall ripped from the concrete wall.
The Sailboat Cove restrooms have been hit four times this year, with everything from graffiti on June 2, to a firework exploding a toilet on June 30. Trailhead bathrooms and the Crows Creek shower house also have been hit.
The sheriff office asked, "Guess who pays for the repairs? You, the tax payers."
