
KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a series of shootings along the Interstate 70 or Interstate 670, that left one victim dead.
Between 6p.. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday officers were notified of a total of 4 reported shooting victim, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
Officers contacted victims at Interstate 670 and Wyoming; vehicle was traveling eastbound from Kansas. Officers contact another victim at Interstate 70 and Paseo; the vehicle was traveling eastbound. Police contacted another victim at Interstate 70 and Prospect; the vehicle was traveling eastbound. Officers also contacted a victim at Truman and Hardesty; the vehicle was traveling eastbound
All the victims indicated they were driving down the highway when one or more shots were fired into their vehicles. A total of four victims were contacted and transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
Three are adults and one is a juvenile teen. The juvenile teen was listed in stable condition, 2 of the 3 adults had non-life threatening injures, and one adult had life threatening injuries.
Detectives are investigating to determine the exact location of each of the shootings and what led up to the shootings. Detective's do believe these 4 incidents occurred in close succession of one another, geographically from West to East, and are believed to be connected to one subject of interest.
Further; detectives believe these shootings are related to the fatal shooting/car crash previously detailed at Truman Road and Bennington at 6:30pm
Through investigation, Detectives identified a subject of interest in all 5 of these cases and that subject of interest was located a short time after the shootings, in a house in Independence, Missouri which resulted in a standoff.
