SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal shooting have made an arrest.
Just before 9 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a shooting call in the 2300 block of South Laura in Wichita, according to Officer Trevor Macy.
Upon arrival, they located a victim – identified as 25-year-old Robertino Gomez of Wichita. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
Through the investigation, officers learned that 42-year-old Marcello Ibarra and Gomez were at a birthday party together, and Ibarra decided to leave. When Gomez went to check on Ibarra outside the party, witnesses reported hearing gunshots.
Police arrested Ibarra on requested charges of 2nd-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and an active warrant, according to Macy.
