FINNEY COUNTY—A school bus was involved in an accident just before 8a.m. Thursday in Finney County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Alejandra Nunez, 29, Holcomb, failed to yield right of way to a 2015 GMC Denali driven by Lainey Mae Smith, 16, Garden City, at the intersection of Jones Avenue and VFW Road in Garden City.
The Chrysler struck the SUV on the drivers side. After impact the SUV continued southwest and struck a 2020 Bluebird school bus driven by Elizabeth Nunez, 43, Garden City, that was stopped at a stop sign.
There were 12 juveniles on the bus at the time of the crash. The KHP reported there were no injuries and all three drivers were properly restrained. The KHP office in southwest Kansas did not have information on the school or school district involved.
