
SEDGWICK COUNTY —A registered Kansas sex offender accused in a downtown Wichita rape made his first court appearance Wednesday.
Anthony Douglas, 47 of Wichita, is charged with aggravated kidnapping, rape, and aggravated battery, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
Just before 8:30a.m. March 7, police responded to a disturbance at the Royal Lodge motel, 320 East Kellogg Street in Wichita, according to police Lt. Christian Cory.
A 23-year-old woman at the scene told police she left a business downtown when a suspect approached and walked her to the motel where she was sexually assaulted.
Investigators later learned of the involvement of Douglas who is a registered sex offender.

On Sunday afternoon, police located Douglas at the business in the 100 Block of North Mosley. He remains jailed on a bond of $150,000, according to the district attorney. His next court appearance is March 25.
