Medical examiner rules Kansas City man's death in June a homicide

KANSAS CITY —A man's death in June is now being investigating as a homicide.

Just before 3a.m. June 22, police were dispatched to the 3600 block of Warwick Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri on a reported incident with KC Fire Department crews, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.

First responders located the victim, later identified as 50-year-old Darriyun Webb on the floor unconscious. EMS responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was declared deceased. The investigation indicates the victim and suspect had been involved in a physical altercation that led to the victim losing consciousness.

The suspect, an adult male, was identified and interviewed at the scene.

On Thursday morning homicide detectives were notified by the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office this incident has been ruled a homicide.
