Suspect in murder of pregnant Kansas woman faces a judge

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A man accused in the shooting death of a pregnant Kansas woman made his first court appearance in the case Thursday.

Matthew Criscenzo, 19 of Wichita, is charged with 1st degree murder and aggravated battery, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office The deadly shooting  occurred early Sunday in Wichita.

Police identified he victim as 20-year-old Naomi Oglesby, a resident of Wichita. At the time of the incident, she was pregnant, according to Office Rick Pena. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced dead at 5:04 a.m.    Click here to visit the online fundraiser.

Doctors were able to deliver her infant, who continues receiving care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a Wichita hospital. 

Police arrested Criscenso in the 700 Block of Laura Street just before 10a.m. Sunday and booked him into jail. Criscenso is due back in court on June 12. He is being held on a half-million dollar bond, according to the district attorney's office.
