5-year-old Kan. girl dies after 3-vehicle crash

FINNEY COUNTY —A child died in a  3-vehicle accident just after 3p.m. Tuesday in Finney County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2012 Ford Edge driven by Marcial A.Medina-Garcia, 21, Pierceville, Kansas, was eastbound on U.S. 50 ten miles east of the U.S. 83 Junction.

The Ford traveled left of center and side swiped a 2009 Chevy Traverse driven by  Juliana Furaha, 25, Garden City.

The impact pushed the Chevy went into the westbound ditch.

The Ford bounced off Chevy and struck a 2011 Toyota Tacoma  driven by April A. Mullinix, 56,Colorado Springs, driver side to driver side. Both vehicles came to a rest on the westbound shoulder.

A passenger in the Chevy Plliana Mupenzi, 5, Garden City, was pronounced dead at the scene.

EMS transported Medina-Garcia, Furaha, Mullinix, and passengers in the Chevy identified as Matthew Bimeni, 29, and 7-month-old Byrlan L. Bimeni, both of Garden City, to St. Catherines Hospital.  All six were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
