SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest Wednesday in Salina.

On Wednesday afternoon, police responded to Walmart, 2900 South Ninth Street in Salina for report of suspicious activity involving a FedEx truck driving in the parking lot, according to  Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.  The truck was a 2008 Utility Truck valued at $22,000.

The driver later identified as Raymond Lawrence, 33, of Lincoln, was reported to be wearing a leather jacket, hat and jeans and not a FedEx uniform.

An officer observed the truck and a Lawrence in the northwest corner of the parking lot.  Lawrence was pouring a liquid into the engine compartment of the truck and the liquid was running onto the ground.

Officers contacted FedEx and learned that the truck had been taken from Randy’s Auto Repair, 1015 West North Street in Salina, a short time prior to the officers being called to Walmart.

Police arrested Lawrence on requested charges of felony theft and driving while suspended, according to Forrester.
