
SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a stabbing that fatally injured 30-year-old Shawn Gomez of Wichita.
Just before 2p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a stabbing in the 2600 block of East Harry Street, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.
First responders located Gomez bleeding from a stab wound to his upper chest. EMS transported him to an area hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The investigation revealed that Gomez was in a physical altercation with an unknown male suspect when the suspect stabbed him before fleeing.
The investigation is still in its preliminary stages. The investigators are still working to fully determine what led up to the stabbing.
