SALINA —Police arrested a Kansas man who had an active warrant after he was found hiding in a closet under some clothing.

Just before 10p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Baker Street for the report of a physical altercation, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.

Officers were told that James Mallett III, 34, of Salina, was involved in the altercation. One of the officers knew that Mallett had an active probation violation warrant from Saline County District Court, Forrester said.

When officers arrived, Mallett opened the door inside a locked storm door. Officers asked Mallet to come outside, but he instead shut the door. Another resident allowed officers inside, and they located Mallett in a closet under some clothing, according to Forrester.

Mallett was arrested on the warrant and on a requested charge of felony interference with law enforcement officers.
