GEARY COUNTY—A Kansas man learned that his camper had been stolen after a relative saw the vehicle in Junction City.
A 52-year-old Salina man told police that his 2019 Jayco Feather camper, valued at $25,000, had been stolen from a storage lot in the 3400 block of Canterbury Drive, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.
The storage lot owner reported that when she was at the lot at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, she found one of the gates open and the chain for the gate missing.
A relative told the vicim she saw a pickup pulling the camper in Junction City and wondered why someone else was driving it.
Junction City police stopped the pickup, which, as it turns out, was stolen out of Wichita, according to Forreste.
Police arrested the driver, Brandon Cunningham, 38, of Wichita and booked him into the Geary County Detention Center Sunday afternoon on requested charges of that include three outside warrants, Vehicle liability insurance; Knowingly drive uninsured vehicle, Driving while license cancelled/suspended/revoked, Possession of stolen property; Felony.
Cunningham was also allegedly in possession of the lock for the gate at the storage lot.
Salina police are requesting the following charges for Cunningham Misdemeanor theft, Felony theft and Two counts of criminal damage to property.
