Monarchs split with Larned

HAYS - The TMP-Marian Monarchs split their home doubleheader with Larned Thursday night at the TMP Field. The Monarchs (9-7) won the first game 11-1 then scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead  in the second game, but Larned answered with three in the top of the sixth and held on the rest of the way for a 5-3 victory.

Jace Wentling, Mason Robbins and Nick Helget all drove in three runs in the opener which was called after four innings by run-rule.

Mason Robbins pitched all three innings gets the win in the first game, scattering four hits while walking one and striking out one.

Jace Wentling had three of TMP's seven hits in game two.

Nick Herman suffered the loss on the mound. He allowed three runs on four hits with three walks and a strikeout.

The Monarchs play at Ellis Sunday at 7 p.m.
