
SEDGWICK COUNTY— A Kansas man is going to prison for a deadly knife attack, robbery.
On Wednesday Judge Jeff Goering sentenced 36-year-old Antonio Jones to 442-months in prison and another 59 months for robbery, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office. The judge also order Jones to serve 36-months of post release supervision and pay restitution of $5,700 to the Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board.
In December, Jones plead guilty to second degree murder and and aggravated robbery.
Just after 3p.m. Sept. 6, 2023, police were dispatched to the 2300 block of N. Chautauqua in Wichita for a welfare check on 66-year-old Brenda McNeely, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.
Officers received information that she could be inside the residence and possibly injured and in need of help. The door to the residence was forced open and officers located with her a fatal stab wound inside of the residence. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect identified as Antonio Jones was involved in a disturbance with McNeely which ultimately led to her stabbing.
